Experienced Quantitative Trader

Aarhus Trading is a start-up located in the heart of Aarhus specializing short-term energy trading. Our success hinges on a high-performance, low-latency technology platform that operates in a fast-paced market environment. As we expand our trading operations, we are seeking a skilled Quantitative Trader to join our core team and make a direct impact on our growth.

The Role:
Do you have a solid quantitative toolbox and a keen interest in the complexities of energy markets? We are looking for a Quantitative Trader to join us and help build a dedicated algorithmic team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing and optimizing autonomous trading strategies for key markets in Europe and North America.

You will play a crucial role in the entire quant lifecycle, from researching new market opportunities and building models to implementing, back-testing, and fine-tuning our algorithmic strategies. This is a unique opportunity to take on significant responsibility from day one, supported by a team of highly skilled colleagues in a collaborative and vibrant environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research & Strategy Development: Research new market opportunities and develop profitable trading strategies using machine learning, econometrics, and deep market knowledge.
  • Quantitative Modeling: Build, maintain, and optimize quantitative models for energy markets, including price forecasting, supply-demand fundamentals, and trade execution algorithms.
  • Full Strategy Lifecycle: Contribute to our entire trading framework, from initial research and back-testing to implementation and live monitoring, ensuring model reliability and accuracy.
  • Data Management: Acquire, validate, and maintain high-quality data from external and internal sources to feed our models and analyses.
  • Collaboration & Improvement: Work closely with traders, software developers, and other quants to convert academic knowledge into practical applications and continuously improve our existing setup.

We expect you to have:

  • A master’s or PhD degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or Computer Science.
  • A strong academic record, complemented by either top-tier university performance or 2+ years of relevant experience in a quantitative role.
  • Programming skills, with a strong preference for Python and its data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).
  • Proven expertise in quantitative modeling, statistics, econometrics, and machine learning fundamentals.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a quality-conscious approach.
  • A curious mindset, a proactive approach, and the courage to tackle a steep learning curve.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience in energy trading (power, gas, or related commodities) or other financial services.
  • Experience with other relevant technologies (e.g., SQL, Columnar DB Technology, etc.).

We are looking for a colleague who:

  • Is efficient, independent, and dynamic, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possesses a positive and competitive attitude, combined with being a valued team player.
  • Is not afraid to take on responsibility and sees opportunities where others see problems.
  • Can work effectively both independently and collaboratively, structuring their own workload to meet team goals.

What We Offer:

  • A steep learning curve supported by a thorough on-boarding program, setting you up for success from day one.
  • An attractive remuneration package commensurate with your qualifications.
  • A high level of autonomy while still having ample opportunity to collaboration.
  • Professional and personal challenges in a unique, flat culture without rigid hierarchies.
  • An exciting and dynamic workplace in modern premises in the heart of Aarhus, where no two days are the same.
  • Great team and company-wide events
